Acne Diet
If you're sick and tired of the numerous treatments and medications you tried to cure your acne, maybe it's time that you try something else.
How about an acne diet?
An acne diet can help to get rid of your acne problems. Although many doctors cannot point out how much or how little diets can affect acne, one thing's for sure- there are certain foods that can trigger acne and there are foods that can help get rid of it.
Below are the foods and supplements that you should include in your acne diet:
(1) Foods rich in vitamins
Oranges, papayas, plums, pineapples, strawberries and broccoli are great sources of vitamin C which help prevent acne breakouts and infection. Apples are rich in vitamins A, B and C, and they are also rich in iron and potassium which all help boost the immune system and helps clear the skin.
Vitamin supplements such as vitamin E can help boost your skin's health. A multi-vitamin supplement is also good to supply all the necessary vitamins that you need to fight off diseases and acne. Ask your doctor about these supplements and which ones are better to take for your acne.
(2) Foods rich in sulfur
Eggs are a good source of natural sulfur which helps in fighting off acne infections. It's best to have half-cooked or not so well-done eggs to get the full benefits of this natural nutrient.
(3) Fish and omega 3
The omega 3 found in fish is an essential nutrient that promotes healthy skin and prevents acne. Salmon, tuna and cod are rich in omega 3 so you should include these in your daily diet. You may also take fish oil supplements if you need more omega 3. Make sure to consult with your doctor about fish oil supplements before you take them.
(4) Foods rich in zinc
Eggs, mushrooms and whole grains are great sources of zinc. This nutrient can help reduce acne because it boosts the immune system and helps in fighting off diseases.
A good acne diet also entails knowing which foods are to be avoided to prevent more acne problems:
* Avoid foods that are high in androgenic hormones. It is quite challenging these days to identify which foods have hormones injected into them from the not. If only we can clearly see through the labels which food products have them, it will be easier to find and avoid them.
Milk and meat are the most common foods that are injected with androgenic hormones. Milk and other dairy products are known to aggravate acne.
However, meat protein is good. As much as possible, you should buy meat from a meat market and not at the grocery store because there's a higher probability of injected meats in these places.
* It is also believed that avoiding sugar if you have acne is a good measure. Avoiding sugar in general is beneficial to the body overall. If you can't resist eating sweets, drinking sodas or putting sugar into coffee and coco, you can lessen the usual amount you're using until you can gradually remove the sugar completely.
